20. Havana

318 Main Street Bar Harbor, Maine | Latin, Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options | $31 – $50 | Monday to Sunday 4:00 pm – 7 pm

Since its inception 20 years ago, Havana has been devoted to delivering local and organic meats, fruits, and seafood. All of its flesh are “naturally grown,” excluding the use of steroids, antibiotics, and hormones, and “humanely raised,” which requires enough space to roam, adequate shelter, and gentle handling.

Havana is one of the few upscale restaurants in the central core of Bar Harbor, complete with white tablecloths. People were well-dressed, but since it was Bar Harbor, no one seemed too formal. Parilla, an outdoor bar and tapas restaurant on the patio of Havana, is more informal with a different menu and does not accept reservations.

We began our beverages with the excellent Caipirinha, Mojito, and Fruitas Tropical (non-alcoholic) cocktails. The complimentary bread basket had warm bread, blueberry cornbread with a white bean spread, peppery oil, and delicious herb butter.

The Lobster Cake was outstanding. Even though there were only eight meals to select from, we sampled four of them, and they were all exceptional. The Grilled Ribeye had excellent taste, and the paella had delicious crispy rice and an abundance of seafood. Also, the Halibut was tropical and cooked to perfection (not at all dry! ), and the chicken was so soft and flavorful; it was the best chicken we’ve ever eaten.

The service and all other aspects were exceptional! A cellist performed live music to really enhance the ambiance. We strongly suggest Havana for a romantic evening in Bar Harbor!

19. Bistro On Eden

119 Eden St Atlantic Oceanside Hotel, Bar Harbor, Maine | American, Seafood Cuisines | $6 – $35 | Monday to Sunday 4:00 pm – 9 pm

There is something for everyone at the Bistro. Enjoy local and international food, a full bar, and fine casual dining in a pleasant ambiance.

Take in breathtaking views of Frenchman Bay from one of our floor-to-ceiling windows, or breathe in the salty air on our terrace or patio. There are 25 seats available for supper and balcony seating when in season. The Bistro does not take reservations; seating is first-come, first-served.

The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is lovely. We dined here twice during our vacation at the Atlantic Oceanside, and both times we were pleased with the cuisine and service.

We almost tried every appetizer and salad on their menu. Everything was fresh and excellent. In addition to the house salad, the crab cakes and Caesar salad were exceptional.

They provide an extensive wine and beer list and a fully stocked bar. Ask about their specialty cocktails. Although we did not sample their pomegranate martini, it seemed a favorite among the visitors. However, we like blueberry wine so that was a no-brainer!

The blueberry pie with ice cream was a favorite. It was the ideal finale for our great dinners.

18. Burning Tree Restaurant

The hype is true! All the guidebooks say Burning Tree is the best place to eat on Mount Desert Island, and the locals agree.

It is renowned for serving “the island’s greatest and freshest seafood feasts with New American flair.” The restaurant grows some of its food and herbs and sources the rest locally. Everything has a touch of creativity and expertise.

We got scallop shrimp and crab cakes with spicy mayo, clam flatbread, steamed Chinese eggplant with chili garlic sauce, halibut kebabs with autumn vegetable and gruyere cheese risotto, and scallops with a Japanese influence. It takes 20 minutes to “fire” flatbreads.

The clams were soft, not chewy, and quite tasty; we got the clam flatbread based on the advice of the wait staff as a unique option. The eggplant has fresh herbs and spices; it was delicious!

We were impressed with the cuisine and will undoubtedly return, with the clam flatbread being our top choice.

This is definitely one of the best seafood restaurants in Bar Harbor Maine if you’re looking for super fresh food!

It is housed in a former boarding house from the Victorian period and has distinctive décor, first-rate service, and a sizable drink menu.

It might be challenging to decide between the seafood meals on the menu. From this menu, even the pickiest diners may find something to eat. Dijon mussels, crab cake platters, bacon-wrapped scallops, and more are available. Additionally, stews, sandwiches, and other cuisines are available.

An excellent small bar is away from the eating room to maintain a pleasing dining atmosphere, and there are two floors to handle how crowded it can become.

Our dinner and drinks arrived quickly, and the server was exceptionally kind. They served great beverages. We had the crab cake appetizer, which was delicious and a great way to start the dinner.

The scallops, lobster, and crab cakes in the Maine mix were what we ordered. Aside from the rice and the day’s vegetable, broccolini came with three sauces for each kind of fish.

If you’re looking for more upscale seafood restaurants in Bar Harbor, this should be your top choice!

The menu items are pretty reasonably priced. Miso soup, dumplings, fried spring rolls, edamame, Thai fried rice, Thai lo mein, many kinds of curry, and more are among the available foods. There are many options on the menu, so you can find just about every Thai meal you can imagine.

The restaurant’s décor is rather plain, but that’s because the cuisine is a major attraction. The room has serene green walls, dark wood tables, and colorful accent tablecloths. There is a ton of outdoor furniture equipped with umbrellas so you can take in the gorgeous Maine weather in the summer.

Project Social is a contemporary restaurant and bar in downtown Bar Harbor.

Crafting high-end cocktails, delectable small plates, and sweet & savory crepes using fresh ingredients is key to their concept.

This restaurant has a beautiful appearance in its interior bar rooms, and eating on the covered deck is available. The expansive garden with a little stream and a pond is an idyllic summer setting.

We came for happy hour after a day of hiking or shopping or staying the night. We begin the evening with a drink for dinner, split a few small dishes with a bottle of wine, and end the evening with an enticing sweet crepe and espresso or scotch.

This place is ideal for beverages and appetizers before the main course. We drank and conversed with other out-of-towners enjoying the evening before heading off to get dinner.

The pork belly is so delectably delicate that it almost melts on the tongue. The white bean paste is also quite delicious! They prepared the scallops to perfection and placed them in a beautiful dish.

Their mousse of chicken liver is the greatest paté we’ve ever tasted. It is so silky and creamy that you would expect it to be greasy, yet there is no greasiness. The mousse is a flavor explosion that mixes well with seasoned parsley and crisp French toast.

If you like high-end appetizers and craft cocktails, then this is one of the best restaurants in Bar Harbor Maine for you!

Since 1998, executive chef Louis Kiefer has been in charge of The Reading Room Restaurant, a casual beachside eatery at the magnificent Bar Harbor Inn.

We recently dined here for lunch during the week, and it was an excellent meal. On an intermittently wet day, we walked in just as lunch was being served and were fortunate to get a seat with an ocean view.

The view from this restaurant is breathtaking! In addition to the spectacular ocean vistas and distant Porcupine islands, you can also see lobster fishing boats and whale-watching vessels.

The Inn is beautiful, and the restaurant’s design and décor are flawless and evocative of the traditional manner of old-fashioned high-end restaurants. They are proud of the Inn’s heritage, as reflected in the Inn’s décor and restaurant.

Both the vegetarian burger and bisque soup that we received were delicious. The vegetarian burger was homemade and quite tasty. The bisque was so delicious that we nearly ordered a second, more considerable portion. It was luxurious, creamy, and smooth.

Try to grab a window seat if you dine here are one of the top oceanfront Bar Harbor restaurants. The cuisine and service will not disappoint!

Outstanding land and sea meals are available, including haddock almondine, lollipop lamb chops, honey BBQ pig belly spare ribs, and seafood shepherd’s pie. In addition to more unusual options like seared wild-caught haddock, Cap’n Geddy’s lobster bake, or even Geddy’s “bacon jalapeno” lobster rolls, the menu is full of traditional seafood meals like New England chowder.

The meal was delicious. We had salmon, bacon, bacon burger, garden salad, and Brussel sprouts. The Brussels were unquestionably the finest in town; be sure you get them! They cooked the fish well; the rice, salmon, and vegetables ignited in our mouths like fireworks!

Breakfast and supper are served daily for inn guests and out-of-town customers at Bar Harbor’s Bluenose Inn’s beautiful Looking Glass Restaurant.

The restaurant won Yankee magazine’s “Best Breakfast with a View” prize for its magnificent outdoor dock eating area, which provides breathtaking views of surrounding Frenchman’s Bay.

Breakfast selections at the restaurant include the Beehive breakfast bowl, smoked salmon platters, eggs Benedict, and wild Maine blueberry pancakes. With options for exquisite restaurants by the glass or bottle, the restaurant is one of only a few in Bar Harbor that regularly get the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.

The appetizer of mussels was extraordinary. Each mouthful was tasty. They indeed include a whole lobster in the lobster mac & cheese meal. Being from Buffalo, we were thrilled to see that much lobster in a mac and cheese. It tasted much better because of the truffle cheese sauce. Another intriguing but outstanding entrée was the gnocchi lobster carbonara.

The service, food, and view of the setting sun from the terrace were all excellent. The only advice would be to avoid walking here since it’s uphill to the restaurant.

Along with boiled Maine lobsters, complete lobster bake dinners provide five-course platters with New England clam chowder, steamed clams and mussels, fresh-baked blueberry pie, and Atlantic swordfish.

Lighter lunch options include lobster rolls, fish tacos, and pub burgers with Vermont cheddar cheese and hickory barbecue sauce.

We had the lobster bake and lobster roll; it’s great!. Chowder, mussels, lobster, and dessert made up the four courses of the lobster bake, which cost about $50. Amazing deal! We thought the cost was very modest for the restaurant’s setting and view.

Although we had to wait an hour for our meal, we highly recommend the terrace grill! The wait was well worth it!

There isn’t a spot like a Veranda, in our opinion. Our outside seating area had a stunning view of a well-designed pool, garden, and ocean, which reflected the vibrant hues of the setting sun. It resembled eating supper with The Buchanans!

Since 1998, the Veranda Bar at Balance Rock Inn has served as the hotel’s signature restaurant. It offers creative dinners and beverages in a dining area with unrivaled views of the lovely Frenchman’s Bay.

The restaurant’s dinner menu was thoughtfully crafted and included specialties like whole rainbow trout, venison with juniper and sweet potatoes, and diver scallops with caramelized fennel and sheep’s milk yogurt.

They also have gourmet sweets, including rose ice cream with frozen cardamom foam, rosemary semifreddo, chocolate cremeux, and artisanal cheese platters.
